Representative Dobrinsky apologized for his tardiness and presented House Bill 2159, a request bill from an industry group that would prohibit the manufacture, distribution, sale and installation of counterfeit airbags.
Dobrinsky told the committee that counterfeit airbags are a growing market and that the measure aims to protect public safety. He said the problem affects the lower end of the retail market, “where folks really need the protection the most,” and urged adoption. There was no recorded debate or amendment.
A committee motion to “do pass” carried, with the chair reporting all present voted in favor. The bill was advanced to subcommittee for further consideration.
