Mrs. Miller (Board member) said the space plan allocates roughly 4,000 square feet for wrestling and about 800 square feet for restrooms; the remainder would serve other athletics and storage. She said the design team from KBA Architecture has met with the committee and would provide price estimates and a comparison between a manufactured-metal building and a pole-barn style structure.
Committee members said they are keeping the planned footprint under an occupancy threshold of 300 to avoid required sprinkler systems, which would add substantial cost. Mrs. Miller said boosters have committed roughly $400,000 toward the project and the district is trying to stay within a square footage that avoids sprinkler triggers and extra code fees. The committee discussed a single-story, pole-barn approach with a 15-foot clear height.
The board also discussed timing: KBA Architecture is expected to deliver cost figures at an upcoming facilities committee meeting, and the building team hopes to advance design work in time for the district’s reverse raffle fundraiser in mid-March, which members said could help boost the project fund.
No formal construction contract was approved at the Feb. 11 meeting; staff said further cost estimates and final design choices will be considered at the next buildings/finance committee meeting, scheduled for the following Thursday. Mark (KBA Architecture) is coordinating follow-up work and cost comparisons for committee review.
