Laramie County School District #1 releases staff climate survey; board urges action on pay, workload and safety

LARAMIE, Wyo. — Laramie County School District #1 officials on Monday reviewed a district-commissioned staff climate survey that consultants said captured 995 usable responses and flagged compensation, workload and student behavior as the most frequently raised concerns.

The district contracted with a team from the Wyoming School Boards Association to design and host the anonymous survey, which consultants said ran for 17 days in December and yielded 995 responses after removing one respondent who identified as a Wyoming Department of Education employee. Julie (Wyoming School Boards Association consultant) and Brian (Wyoming School Boards Association consultant) presented the results at the board meeting; Superintendent Dr. Newton said the administration will distribute the report to all employees and begin follow-up conversations with building and district leaders.
