Berrien County 911 supervisor urges residents to consider dispatch careers

"I wanna ensure that the public gets the help they need, but I also wanna make sure that our responders get home safely every day," Tony said, describing two priorities that shape how he handles each call.
Tony outlined the scope of the dispatch role, saying it includes "processing incoming call[s] to dispatching police, fire, EMS for calls." He emphasized that much of the job happens behind the scenes and said dispatching requires strong multitasking, listening and communication skills. "This job is perfect for somebody that is a multitasker, somebody that is very thorough, and very detail oriented," he said.
Tony said he has worked at Berrien County 9-1-1 for about 20 years and described the role as a way for community members to get involved in public safety. He invited interested people to consider the position, saying, "So come make this your career and join our team at Berrien County 9 1 1."
