Supervisor Nancy Long called the Feb. 11, 2025, Caroline County Board of Supervisors meeting to order and, citing a governor-declared state of emergency due to weather, asked the board to move the meeting to the following week.
"Since the governor has declared that there is a state of emergency due to the weather, in order to maintain continuity of government and to ensure that the public has an opportunity to attend in person, I'd like to entertain a motion from the board to continue this meeting on Tuesday, February, that's a week from today, at 06:30," Supervisor Nancy Long said.
Following a motion and a second, the board voted unanimously to recess and continue the meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. Supervisor Floyd Thomas voiced "Aye," Supervisor Reggie Underwood said "Aye," and Supervisor Jeff Seeley also recorded his assent; Long indicated she voted as well. The board noted the later start time was required because the auditorium was in use earlier that evening.
The meeting record shows a quorum was present when Long called the meeting to order: Supervisors Nancy Long, Floyd Thomas, Reggie Underwood (calling in), and Jeff Seeley. Staff member David Sadler assisted a board member with connection issues before the meeting began.
Before recessing, Long announced a community event: a free showing of the film Loving at the community center on "Saturday the fifteenth" at 6:00 p.m., and encouraged residents to arrive by 5:30 p.m. to get seats.
The board recessed the Feb. 11 meeting and will reconvene at the date and time established in the vote.
