Elkhart board approves consent agenda; records donations and 14 teacher retirements

Board Member Kelly reported four donations: $350 to the Bring Change to Mind Club, $300 to Pierre Moran Middle School for a Hoopla event from the Elkhart Education Foundation, $250 to the teenage parent program from Jeff and Tracy Miller, and $300 from Jeff and Amy Martin toward classroom robots. "...Jeff and Amy Martin donated $300 towards the supply and purchase of more robots," the board report said during the meeting.
The consent agenda also listed 14 teacher retirements that together represent 337 years of service to Elkhart Community Schools. Board members thanked the retiring staff and said the district will celebrate their service during the year.
President Scott sought and received a motion and second to approve the consent items. "All in favor?" President Scott asked; the board responded and the president announced, "Opposed? Motion carries unanimously."
The board did not amend the consent items on the floor. The administration will proceed with accepting the donations and processing retirements according to district procedures.
