Council appoints members to EDAC and mobile‑home park committee; recruitment continues for remaining seats

The Yucaipa City Council on Feb. 10 made multiple citizen appointments to the Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) and the Mobile Home Park Committee and directed staff to continue recruitment for remaining mobile‑home resident seats.

The city clerk’s office reported it had extended recruitment for several advisory bodies and presented the council with a table of applicants. For EDAC, the council appointed Donna Snodgrass and Christopher Markarian to the two at‑large seats and confirmed Michael Gardner and Alex Patel for the financial‑institution and local‑developer slots, respectively. The council also accepted the four agency board appointments that the named agencies had submitted for EDAC.

For the Mobile Home Park Committee, the council appointed Richard Hess and Mitchell Emerson as owner representatives and approved Julie Polly as the industry representative. The clerk reported the city received only three applications from mobile‑home park residents; the council appointed those three applicants and instructed staff to keep recruitment open until the five resident positions are filled.

The appointments were made by motion and majority voice votes. In several instances the council made unanimous appointments; in other cases, members abstained or noted potential conflicts before voting. The council noted the clerk’s intention to continue outreach to mobile‑home residents and to leave applications open until seats are filled.

The council also designated Council Member Justin Bieber as a non‑voting council representative to EDAC.

Appointees are scheduled to be notified and to receive onboarding information from the city clerk’s office. The clerk said she will return to council if further direction or clarification on committee terms is required.
