JFAC approves technical correction to public schools health-insurance per-support-unit amount

The committee’s Legislative Services budget analyst, Jared Tatro, told the committee the previously published text showed a per-FTP dollar amount (14,130) rather than the required dollar amount per support unit. Tatro said the correct calculation — shown on the scribe and highlighted during the meeting — yields $21,902 per support unit and that language must appear in the bill so the Department of Education can distribute funds accordingly.
Cochair requested unanimous consent to accept the calculated per-support-unit amount and to include it in the program maintenance bill for public schools. With no objections, the chair said, “it is so ordered,” and the correction will be reflected in the bill language.
The change is technical in nature: Tatro said the earlier figure had been recorded as $21,901.50 and that the figure had been rounded up to $21,902 to match how distributions are specified in statute and practice. No further debate or amendment accompanied the unanimous-consent action.
The committee moved on after the correction; staff said they would incorporate the corrected language into the program maintenance bill draft for public schools.
