Committee approves annual codification bill SB 112, sends it to calendar

Leader Johnson told the panel SB 112 ‘‘is the codification bill’’ that transmits legislation passed in the prior session into the annotated code and ‘‘makes no changes’’ except allowed housekeeping edits such as captions or grammatical corrections; he said both volumes total ‘‘2,538 pages.’’
A motion to advance the bill was made by Senator Roberts and seconded by the chair. Senator Taylor asked whether ceremonial or named act titles (for example a bill titled the Parental Accountability Act) remain in the code; Leader Johnson replied that if a title is part of the legislation it is retained as drafted in the codification process. The committee recorded no amendments to SB 112 and voted 9-0 to forward the bill to the calendar.
