Santa Clara approves $160,000 settlement of Blue Shield lien in William Kelly workers' compensation case

City Attorney Glenn Gugins told the council the action was approved “six-zero, with Member Park absent,” and that Blue Shield’s representative had signed the settlement stipulation. Gugins said the original claim in the case was $888,517 and that once the stipulation is signed the settlement document will be available to the public on request.
The action was announced during the meeting’s report-out from closed session; no public debate occurred because the matter had been discussed in closed session.
