Lebanon Fire reports 117 emergency calls, opens hiring and plans trench rescue program

Deputy Chief Hendricks told the Board of Works on Feb. 10 that Lebanon Fire responded to 117 emergency calls since the last meeting, logged 412 training hours and completed 57 commercial inspections.
Hendricks said eight LFD members attended Winter Fire School Jan. 31–Feb. 2, hosted by the Indiana Fire Training Academy, and that firefighter Spencer Kearns is enrolled in a Fire Officer I class hosted by Whitestown Fire Department. The department trained on an industrial-accident simulator to practice extrication techniques; Hendricks thanked Pike Township Fire Department for lending the simulator.
Fire Chief Betts distributed fire service contracts to the town of (as recorded) Eulen, Clinton Township and Harrison Township; Hendricks said all three contracts have been signed and returned. On Feb. 4, Lebanon Fire opened its hiring process. Hendricks said the department had received 65 applications as of the afternoon of Feb. 10 and that the application window remains open until March 4. Hendricks said the fire administration is planning to implement a trench rescue program in the fall of 25 to increase specialized rescue capability in response to construction activity in the city.
No formal board action was requested during the fire-department report.
