SiteLogic gives progress update on IMS renovation; lower-level work expected complete before fall

SiteLogic representatives updated the Bethel Park School District Board of School Directors on the IMS renovation during the board meeting, saying the project remains in phase 3 and on track for occupancy before the next school year.

“We are still in phase 3,” SiteLogic said, reporting that the library has been inspected and cleared by the code official and that balancing information had been submitted. The presenter said the nutrition lab is still awaiting dishwashers before code approval.

The report described ongoing work on the lower level: windows have been installed on an exterior wall, drywall is being finished, painting has begun in classroom areas, and ceramic tile installation is scheduled next week in the locker-room area. SiteLogic said it removed part of the upstairs music suite briefly to run ductwork from the lower level to the roof to supply fresh air to the locker rooms.

“We are moving along down there on schedule to be completed up around the March, and then we will go up and take over the auditorium and the music suite,” SiteLogic said. The presenter added that students who use the music rooms will be relocated temporarily to newly finished health rooms while upstairs work continues.

SiteLogic said roofing work for the auditorium and music suite is planned to begin in late March while the district occupies other sections; more extensive roof work will be scheduled for the summer so work that requires vacating areas can be done when students are out.

Board members asked for a specific completion date. SiteLogic responded that interior spaces should be occupiable by the start of the school year in August but that closeout activities and punch-list work would continue into September and October as evening work. “The goal is to have everything done and out of everybody’s hair by the start of the next school year,” SiteLogic said.

Board member Shane requested a more precise calendar date so the district can schedule around construction; SiteLogic said it would “work backwards” from the typical mid‑August start. Board members and SiteLogic also discussed summer availability for metal and trim work, potential unit repairs, and warranty coverage for earlier roofing sections.

On the cafeteria roof section that was already completed, SiteLogic reported only a localized interior ceiling repair was needed after removing a clogged unit allowed water to enter; the contractor Garland has provided a warranty. The presenter said a different certified Garland representative contractor will handle the remaining roofing work.

The presentation closed with a brief exchange about site access, use of temporary rooms during construction and an assurance SiteLogic and district staff are coordinating to minimize interference with school activities.

Board members raised no formal objections during the update and used the presentation to confirm sequencing and access for the upcoming calendar and athletic uses.
