William Tennant football team donates $750 to McDonald Elementary food pantry

Members of the William Tennant High School football team presented a $750 donation to the McDonald Elementary School food pantry and delivered nonperishable items collected at their annual holiday fair.
At the Feb. 11 board meeting a student representative recapped recent school fundraising and community service activities, including a bake sale and the football team’s donation. Deanna Gurey Tanandi, principal of McDonald Elementary, thanked the players, the William Tennant Football Booster Club and another student group, Voices for Change, for their contributions.
Principal Gurey Tanandi told the board the $750 check and food donations “will go directly to helping families in need in our district” and added that about 100 families use the food pantry each month. The consent agenda later included formal acceptance of the $750 donation.
Board members and administrators posed for photos with the students and publicly thanked them for the contribution.
