The Jefferson Union High School District board approved a series of human‑resources actions and negotiation steps during the meeting, including a bulk update to classified and confidential job descriptions following a compensation study, the district’s initial contract‑negotiation proposal, and specific new and revised job descriptions.
Director of Human Resources Dana Lujan summarized a CPS HR class and compensation study and presented 44 updated job descriptions that had been reviewed by the district and AFT Local 1481. A board member moved to approve all 44 job descriptions; the motion was seconded and passed by unanimous voice vote (recorded as “Aye”).
In a separate public hearing on contract negotiations, both the union (AFT Local 1481) and the district “sunshined” the articles they plan to open for bargaining for the 2025–26 school year. The board then voted to adopt the district’s initial negotiation proposal; the motion passed on a voice vote (Aye).
Later in the agenda the board approved three specific job‑description items that were presented individually: an updated Adaptive Physical Education (APE) teacher description to reflect updated reporting requirements and inclusion priorities; a new District Librarian job description to coordinate library/media programs and digital literacy across the district; and an updated Lead Psychologist description clarifying required education, experience and duties. Each of those items was moved, seconded and approved on voice votes (Aye).
Board discussion referenced the need for job descriptions to be flexible around technology (including digital literacy and AI awareness for librarians) and noted that the compensation study had included staff surveys and interviews. The board also thanked AFT Local 1481 for collaborative review of the updated descriptions.
No individual vote tallies by trustee name were read into the record; votes were taken by voice and recorded as unanimous approval for the motions described.
