Board approves three budget amendments totaling $252,600 for state, capital outlay and federal CTE funds

The Alexander County Board of Education voted Feb. 10 to approve three budget amendments presented by Andrea Robinette that add a combined $252,600 to district accounts.
Andrea Robinette presented the budget update through Jan. 31, 2025, and said the fiscal year was seven of 12 months complete (about 58%). Robinette described three amendments: a state amendment adding $77,000 for summer reading camp, test results bonuses and transportation equipment; a capital outlay amendment of $75,472 relating to leasing yellow buses from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction; and a federal program amendment adding $100,128 for Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.
The board moved to approve the amendments. The motion was made by Board Member Anthony McLean; a second was recorded but the transcript did not clearly name the second. The motion "carried unanimously," with no opposed votes recorded.
Robinette said the budget documents discussed had been covered at a prior work session and should be published with the agenda and minutes.
The financial report and amendments were discussed in the business portion of the Feb. 10 meeting.
