Hardin County Commissioners Court approved multiple budget amendments Feb. 11 to reflect updated revenues and transfers and to address staffing changes in the Health Department tied to a delayed federal grant.
County auditor and finance staff summarized several amendments: a revision related to retention stipends initially funded from interest earned, adjustments to revenue and expenditures in RMB 2 related to auction proceeds and disposal of unsold equipment, and the creation of a revenue line for insurance proceeds to cover vehicle repairs. Officials said one health-department staffing change reallocates pay between two positions because a new FDA grant award was delayed; that change produces an estimated $1,684 cost savings to the general fund for the remainder of the fiscal year. County staff said if the expected FDA grant later arrives, the court will be notified and budget lines will be adjusted accordingly.
Separately, the court authorized the county judge to execute a memorandum of understanding between Hardin County Health Services and Lumberton Municipal Utility District to dispense medications during a countywide mass prophylaxis operation; staff said the MOU was a routine renewal with no substantive changes.
All budget amendments and the MOU passed by voice vote.
