House Bill 24 63 would clarify that when determining whether a claim total exceeds $750 for purposes of small claims jurisdiction, courts should include identified pre‑judgment and pre‑award interest, fees and costs in the total amount. Committee staff reported a minimal fiscal impact and no revenue effect.
During a Feb. 11 work session, Vice Chair Chotzin moved that HB 24 63 be recommended to the floor with a due‑pass recommendation. The committee called the roll. Representative Tom Anderson voted “aye,” Representative Chi Chi voted “aye,” and Representative Lewis recorded “yes.” A member—identified in the transcript as Mr. Crab—was excused. The motion passed and the committee carried HB 24 63 to the floor with a due‑pass recommendation.
Committee staff said there was no amendment and no material fiscal impact to report.
