County transfers surplus Tahoe to ESD 1 to support medical first-responder program

Hardin County Commissioners Court approved the sale Feb. 11 of a 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe (VIN ending in 9676) to Hardin County Emergency Services District No. 1 for $1,000, citing Local Government Code §263.152 which authorizes the transfer of surplus county property to another governmental entity within the county.
Sheriff Davis said the vehicle will help the district's medical first-responder program get started and will be fitted with equipment. He said the district's unit is not intended to replace EMS but to supplement response and stabilize patients until paramedics arrive. Wilker, identified in the record as an ESD 1 commissioner, thanked the sheriff and the court and said the service has averaged about 2.2 calls per day since operations began.
The court approved the transfer by voice vote. Commissioners and the sheriff said the transfer qualified under the local government code because the recipient is a county-government entity and the vehicle will remain in-county use.
