Hardin County Commissioners Court approved Amendment 4 Feb. 11 to the county's local cooperation contract with Spindletop Center to continue the mental health liaison program funded through a grant.
Sheriff Davis told the court the amendment is a routine renewal that reflects a cost-of-living increase and benefit adjustments; the substantive elements of the agreement remain unchanged, he said. Commissioners and the sheriff described the program as providing a mental-health deputy to assist law enforcement and county residents and said it has benefited officers and citizens.
The court approved the amendment by voice vote and commissioners discussed the possibility of adding additional funded positions in the future if the program proves successful and funding permits.
