The superintendent’s office noted an estimated $1,100,000 discretionary student support and professional development block grant in the governor’s January proposal and an approximately $54,000 increase tied to learning recovery funds; staff also said federal funding for preschool special education is about $580,000 of the district’s roughly $825,000 in federal receipts.
Survey responses from staff, students and parents showed relatively high ratings for literacy instruction and for staff efforts on safety and culture, while perceptions of support for advanced learners and some digital‑safety topics were lower. Melissa Mercado said differentiation and enrichment can be less visible to parents and students even when implemented, and recommended clearer communication from classrooms to families about how enrichment is provided.
Staff also explained use of funds: intervention teachers and instructional aides are coded across goals, English‑learner supports are partly funded through Title III and Title IV where appropriate, and some professional development is covered by federal Title II and Learning Recovery funds. The district will include required learning recovery reporting in the 2025–26 LCAP.
Trustees asked follow‑up questions about parent and student survey response rates, volunteer counts captured by the district’s Raptor system and indicators of student well‑being. Staff noted the surveys remain open and appendices with disaggregated results and comments were made available to trustees and the public via QR code.
