Bibb County school board approves routine personnel moves, purchases and payments; superintendent praises spelling-bee winner

The Bibb County Regular School District board approved routine consent, personnel and purchasing items during its meeting. The approvals included hires and a resignation, leave for a teacher, payments to temporary workers and vendors, and the purchase of a refrigerator paid for through a state equipment grant.

The approvals, taken as a series of motions by the board, covered everyday operations that affect school staffing and student services across the district. Board members voted to approve the agenda, minutes and January financials before taking up consent and regular items.

Among the personnel actions, the board accepted the resignation of Candice Carter, a special education paraprofessional aide at Brent Elementary School, effective Feb. 7, 2025. The board also approved the employment of Scott Taylor as a part-time custodian at the central office, effective Feb. 14, 2025, and approved Kaylee Berman as dance-line sponsor at Bibb County High School.

The board approved a maternity leave request for Kelsey Belvin, a teacher at Bibb County High School, from March 14 through June 1, 2025.
