Committee re-elects chair, approves minutes and hears staffing announcement

The Town Real Estate Assessment Committee re-elected John Brescher as chair and approved minutes from its July 15 and Aug. 19, 2024 meetings during its Zoom meeting.
After roll-call, committee members unanimously approved the agenda and then unanimously approved both sets of minutes. The committee then re-nominated and re-elected John Brescher as chair; the roll-call vote was unanimous among members present.
Tracy McDonald, staff to the committee, announced that the town will welcome a new real estate specialist, Bob Dostrowski, beginning Feb. 18. McDonald said Dostrowski is an attorney who practiced in Hartford, Conn., and has been living on the island; she said the specialist will assist with project-based work.
McDonald also told members there are about eight real estate articles on the warrant for the Select Board’s agenda; she described most as straightforward and said there were no yard-sale articles at this time. Committee members discussed whether the committee should meet in March; staff said they expect matters to be brought in March and asked members to be available if needed.
The meeting ended after a motion to adjourn passed on a roll-call vote.
