City adopts Health in All Policies 2024 update and approves 2025 work plan

The City Council unanimously accepted the Health in All Policies (HIAP) committee’s 2024 update and approved the committee’s 2025 work plan at its Jan. 28 meeting.
Tiffany Wise West, the city’s sustainability and resiliency officer, summarized the committee’s 2024 accomplishments and the proposed activities for 2025. Wise West told council members that HIAP, created by ordinance in 2019, aims to incorporate equity, sustainability and public health considerations into city decision making and that the committee met six times in 2024 to shepherd items such as the gas‑blower ordinance, advisory‑body diversity reporting and internal agenda‑report templates that flag health impacts.
Key items in the 2025 work plan include developing an electric‑vehicle employee rebate pilot for lower‑income city staff, continued oversight of CORE (a community response program funded jointly with the county), examination of tobacco‑product waste and youth/savings programs, and drafting the committee’s next three‑year implementation plan. Vice Mayor Kalantari Johnson, who chairs the HIAP committee work, asked staff to ensure youth representation in upcoming committee meetings.
Councilmember Bruner praised the committee’s work and the city staff who implement the program. The formal motion to accept the 2024 update and adopt the 2025 work plan passed 7–0.
