Evanston Township High School leaders presented a $2.5 million gift from the Lewis Sebring Family Foundation at the board’s Feb. 10 meeting and proposed naming a gallery adjacent to the auditorium as the Louis C. Ring Gallery.
District staff described the contribution as one of the largest in the ETHS Foundation’s history and said the funds will support the district’s five‑year capital improvement program with a focus on expanding the arts and innovation wing. The presentation emphasized that capital improvements are meant to support learning opportunities as well as building upgrades.
The report said the planned gallery would serve as a dynamic hub for student exhibitions, community engagement and student expression, and noted the gift builds on the foundation’s long-term support of equity and opportunity in Evanston. Presenters acknowledged that formal naming and acceptance procedures will follow board policy and the foundation’s protocols and that the board will take action in a future meeting.
