Superintendent updates board on state bills and federal grant uncertainty; Title I and IDEA funding seen as secure for now

On federal funds, Dr. Elvey said the district’s main concern was whether voluntary or application-based grants could be affected by federal executive actions, but he told the board that federally mandated Title I and IDEA funding — which support roughly 15 district staff positions, he said — appeared secure for the current year. He said the district draws those funds down periodically (every month or every other month depending on district practice) and that they were “forward funded” for the current year, reducing immediate disruption risk.
Board member questions produced clarifications: the district generally submits Title I and IDEA reimbursement requests at least every other month and may submit monthly draws late in the fiscal year. The superintendent said the security grant reimbursement had been briefly inaccessible during a funding freeze concern but access had since returned.
Dr. Elvey also thanked legislative contacts Representative Shorma, Representative Cassin and Sandra Davis for their work and noted the district is receiving Legislative Action Network updates.
