Veterans tribute engineering review, application policy underway as city readies expanded fundraising

The American Legion will assist with vetting applicants under the new administrative process, staff said. The city indicated it will run an application cycle that ends in August; names received in that cycle would be considered for installation on Veterans Day.
Funding and next steps The staff presentation said proceeds from a city golf tournament will be partially directed to a veterans tribute reserve account that the city controls; the prior nonprofit custodian for tribute donations dissolved and the city has the funds in a reserve. Staff said the reserve will be used for possible repairs, expansion or design work once the engineering study defines options. Staff also said they are exploring digital or QR‑code ways to extend the memorial’s history online while preserving the tactile experience of the wall.
