Conservation commission continues two wetland permit hearings to April

TEMPLETON, Mass. — The Templeton Conservation Commission voted Feb. 10 to continue two active Notices of Intent hearings to its April meeting: a Patriots Row application for a driveway across a wetland and a septic system, and a separate application for a 20-by-20-foot deck at 66 Rainbow Drive within the 50-foot wetland buffer around Patchesville Pond.

The continuances followed requests from applicants and staff review. Commission staff reported the Patriots Row applicant asked for two months to assemble plans; the Rainbow Drive file remains incomplete pending proof of required mailings.

Mr. Andrews, a staff member who read the Patriots Row item, said he had contacted the applicant and "he's trying to get the plans together and he's requesting a continuance for two months out." The commission moved and seconded the continuance motions and called the roll. Commissioners Joanne, Dave, George, Kristoff and Steve voted in favor of continuing both hearings to April.

The Patriots Row filing was listed as "file number pending" and the record states the work described as construction of a driveway across a wetland and the installation of a septic system. The Rainbow Drive filing (Noi. 304-0397) is described in meeting materials as a proposal by the Templeton Fish and Gun Club to build a 20-by-20-foot deck within the 50-foot wetland buffer known in the files as Patchesville Pond; staff told the commission the application lacks proof of mailed abutter notifications.

No substantive debate or conditions were recorded during the motions to continue; commissioners said the continuances would allow applicants to complete required materials. Both items will reappear on the commission agenda in April unless applicants provide the missing materials sooner.

The commission's next regular meeting was scheduled for March 17, 2025.
