Kathy Falk, president of Hoof and Paw and a Fairfield County resident, presented two donations to the council during the public-presentation portion of the Feb. 20 meeting: a $7,250 check to the Fairfield County Brid(al) Shelter to fund spay/neuter surgeries for shelter animals, and a $2,000 check to a partner identified as Because of Brosco to fund spay/neuter surgeries for community animals.
Falk said Hoof and Paw has donated more than $100,000 to local animal-welfare efforts since 2020 and helps fund treatment for heartworm-positive dogs as well as food assistance for qualifying seniors through partners. She cited recent intake pressure at the county shelter, saying more than 40 animals arrived in three weeks and that one rescue partner reported caring for about 104 puppies.
Falk said Hoof and Paw hopes its donations will increase the number of animals rescues can pull from the shelter and help community pet owners access affordable spay/neuter services. She thanked the council for the opportunity to present the donations.
Joanne Shaw was named as the shelter director to receive the $7,250 check; a representative identified as Samiri (Sam) Yagi received the $2,000 for Because of Brosco.
Falk: “Since 2020, Hoof and Paw has donated over $100,000 to help our shelter, our community, and our beloved animals in Fairfield County.”
Ending: The council accepted the public presentation; no appropriation or county-funded program change was announced at the meeting.
