Fellow said the calendars reflect community input; she noted one substantive change for elementary schools: assessment days will require in‑person attendance rather than being used as remote data meetings. She explained that alignment with state attendance rules and the October count influences scheduling decisions and that task lists to prepare for reporting begin in August and feed the October pupil‑count process.
Board members discussed practical issues for families and staff and raised web‑accessibility requirements: the district’s communications team is updating calendar presentation to meet accessibility (ADA) and screen‑reader requirements and to avoid publishing only PDF versions. District staff said communications would continue to refine the calendar display so parents can find and use it.
By consensus at the work session, the board moved the school family calendars into action for the Feb. 13 meeting; no final vote was recorded at the Jan. 22 work session.
