Lamar County School Board approves contracts, school reconfiguration and schedules executive session

The Lamar County School District Board of Education on Feb. 10, 2025 approved a series of routine contracts, personnel-related calendar changes and a school reconfiguration, and voted to schedule an executive session to consider personnel matters.

The board approved renewing a lawn-maintenance agreement with Scenic Landscapes for $454,300 and authorized several procurement actions including advertising for bids for qualified bank deposit rates and issuing a request for qualifications for an underwriting/placement agent. The district also authorized a reverse auction process described in the meeting for 2,300 student items (the transcript used the phrase "student promos").

The meeting record shows the board granted administrative leave or forgiveness for inclement-weather days and approved additional administrative days for all employees for specified inclement-weather dates referenced in the meeting. The board also approved not charging students for damages or fees related to a campus fire incident; the vote implementing the waiver was unanimous in the meeting record.
