Mayfield Heights moves forward with Larchmont Drive emergency repair; engineering amendment and contractor awarded

The Mayfield Heights City Council on Feb. 10 approved two related actions to repair pavement damaged by a water-main failure on Larchmont Drive: an amendment to the city's engineering contract with GPD for professional services and a contract award to Fabrizi Trucking & Paving for the repair work.
Resolution 2025-08 authorized an engineering amendment to Grama, Pyle, Schalmer, Burns, and DeHaven Inc., d/b/a GPD Group, to provide professional engineering services for the Larchmont Drive emergency pavement repair. The engineering proposal prepared by Nick Feeney was listed at $8,184.
Resolution 2025-09 awarded the construction contract to Fabrizi Trucking & Paving Company as the low bidder for $50,436. The project record shows three bids were received and the work is expected to be completed within 10 to 14 days.
Engineer Nick Feeney, who was present at the meeting to answer questions, said the GPD proposal covers repair "of the entire pavement area above the break" and that, based on the assessment for this emergency repair, he did not recommend adding additional roadwork at this time outside the emergency pavement area. Council members noted the work is being done to address a water-main break and that broader roadway projects would be considered under a roadway capital project schedule.
Both resolutions were moved, seconded and approved by roll call; each passed with all members present voting yes.
