The Tipton City Council directed the planning department to take enforcement steps against several properties after a hearing and staff updates.
During a hearing on conditions at 327 And A Half North Independence, Todd Bat appeared on behalf of the property owner. Council members discussed substandard conditions in the unit and authorized the planning office to inspect the unit as soon as possible and to issue citations for any uncured violations. Council members also authorized the planning office to inspect the property owners remaining addresses if voluntary cooperation is not provided; the transcript lists 14 addresses representing 19 rental units across the community connected to this owner.
The council also discussed 468 North Condie and gave property owner Mr. Netherton 30 days to present proof of financing and a demolition bid for that site in order to move forward with demolition. Separately, the council issued an order to appear for Mr. Ron Mile at 525 East Jefferson after reviewing a letter he submitted; the order to appear will allow council or staff to ask questions and seek further documentation.
