Monongalia County Schools schedules three snow makeup days, reserves two Arctic Academy days

The Monongalia County Board of Education heard an update Feb. 11 from the superintendent that the district must make up three previously missed school days because of snow.
The superintendent said the district already made up a Monday (referred to in the meeting as the “Pat McAfee day”), and that the next makeup day will be Monday the 17th; the district also plans makeup coverage on March 17 and March 18 to return to the required number of instructional days. The superintendent added the district has zero snow makeup days remaining and still has two “Arctic Academy” days available should additional adjustments be necessary.
The superintendent asked the board if there were questions; staff said they planned to announce the makeup schedule publicly so families could adjust calendars.
No formal vote was required on Feb. 11; the board accepted the scheduling and asked staff to communicate dates publicly.
