At the Jan. 21 meeting, the Atchison County Commission voted to enter an executive session under the Kansas statutory exception cited in the meeting record as "KSA 70 five‑forty three‑nineteen A 4" to discuss "data related to financial affairs or trade secrets of corporations, partnerships, trusts and individual proprietorships."
The motion named the purpose of the closed meeting as protecting the confidentiality of that information and set the closed-session length at 15 minutes. Those listed to remain for the closed session included the three county commissioners, the road superintendent, the finance director and the county counselor; the motion passed by unanimous vote.
When the board returned to open session the meeting record shows no formal action taken in open session related to that closed discussion. The commission then adjourned into a workshop.
