Laredo Mod Fiesta health fair to feature mud obstacle courses March 15; registration QR not yet active

Organizers told the Laredo Veterans Advisory Council that the Laredo Mod Fiesta health and wellness fair will be held March 15 at Jorita Park (Barlet Soccer Complex) and will feature two mud courses and a large adult obstacle course.

Randy Hidloff, speaking for Veterans Spirit Network, said: "It's gonna be March 15 at Jorita Park, the Barlet Soccer Complex." He said the adult course is planned for about 300 participants and that "50 are gonna be set aside for veterans only, and then a 50 are gonna be set aside for the public." Hidloff also said organizers have a registration QR code but the site is not yet active.

Organizers described participant rules and logistics: adult participants claiming veteran status will be asked to upload proof (military ID, DD214 or VA documentation) and must be 18 or older; a children's course will accept ages 7 to 17 and use the same registration link with parental/guardian sign‑offs. Hidloff said waivers and an in‑person briefing will be required; "the waivers, the cities are the city of Laredo is gonna provide, but they don't they don't have it ready yet," he said.

Remy (no last name given) said adult teams will be teams of eight; organizers will group individuals without a team and will ask registrants to indicate fitness level so they can be matched.

Organizers said some sponsorship slots remain and asked veterans groups to help secure sponsors to fund free participant shirts and logistics. One veteran asked about the obstacle count; an organizer said there are approximately 44 obstacles.

Because registration is not yet live, organizers said they will announce the public registration opening after a joint press conference with a council member; until then the QR code is not public.
