Board approves consent agenda, financial statement and five district policies

At its Jan. 27 meeting the Grand Forks Public School District board approved routine business items, accepted updated financial statements and completed second readings and adoption of five district policies.
The board approved the consent agenda by roll call. The board then approved the general fund financial statement for July 1 through Dec. 31, 2024, after Brandon Baumbach (district finance staff) explained the packet originally included documents through Nov. 30 in error and had been corrected. Baumbach reported $57,600,000 in general fund revenues and $49,700,000 in expenditures for the first six months of the fiscal year, producing a positive variance of approximately $7.9 million. Year‑over‑year comparisons showed revenues about 2.7% higher than the prior year and expenditures about 10.3% lower, a difference the presenter attributed largely to one‑time COVID‑era funding that affected last year’s spending profile. The board approved the financial statement on a motion moved by Mr. Anderson and seconded by Dr. Hodak; roll call recorded unanimous approval with one absence.
The policy review committee and district administration recommended second reading and adoption of five policies (AAC, FDD, ACF, BA and IAD). The board approved those policies on second reading; a trustee moved the item and another trustee seconded before the roll‑call vote approving the adoptions.
These approvals were taken as part of the board’s consent and regular agenda items and required no further action at the meeting.
