Planning commission approves consent items, ends one vacation-rental conditional use

The Pennington County Planning Commission on Feb. 10 approved the minutes of Jan. 27 and the meeting agenda, approved consent items per staff recommendation and voted to end a conditional use permit for a vacation home rental (CUR 20-10).
On the consent agenda staff recommended approval of several conditional-use permit reviews: CUR 18-45 (Caputah Community Cemetery) in an Agriculture District and CUR 23-41 (Patricia Roche — accessory dwelling unit in a Suburban Residential District). Item 5 (CUR 20-10 — vacation home rental) had been placed on the consent agenda in error; staff asked that the recommended action be changed to end the permit. The commission removed item 5 from the consent agenda for separate consideration and then moved and seconded the staff recommendation to end CUR 20-10; the motion carried by voice vote.
Staff reminded commissioners that Planning Commission recommendations from this meeting will be forwarded to the Pennington County Board of Commissioners for final decisions at its regular meeting on Feb. 18, 2025.
Other routine business included building permit reports for January, which staff said were on pace with last year’s January totals, and a brief items-from-members exchange about W-2 distribution timing. The commission adjourned after completing business.
