Coppell council approves purchase of roughly 2.02 acres from Episcopal Diocese; consent agenda also approved

The Coppell City Council on Feb. 11 authorized the city to purchase approximately 2.015 acres of real property from the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas, care of Church of the Apostles, for an amount not to exceed $790,000 plus reasonable closing costs and filing fees. The motion, presented in open session after an executive session, also authorized the city manager and mayor to execute documents necessary to complete the purchase after approval as to form by the city attorney.
Councilmember Walker moved the purchase agreement; Councilmember Carroll seconded. The motion passed with all members present voting in favor. The vote roll call as read into the record listed Walker, Henn, Ives, Smith, Carroll, Nevills, Primer and Matthew in favor; none opposed.
Earlier in the meeting the council approved the consent agenda (items 7a–7f) in a single motion moved by Mayor Pro Tem Kevin Nevills and seconded by Councilmember Walker. The public record shows the consent vote read as Walker, Keanahosa Smith, Carol Nevills, Prabham Kumar and Matthew in favor; none opposed.
The purchase agreement authorizes city staff to complete closing and related filings; the council did not provide additional public details in the motion about planned uses for the property during the meeting. City officials said legal review by the city attorney would precede final execution of documents.
