The Ralston Public Schools Board of Education on Feb. 10 approved a package of personnel, facilities and policy actions, including a two-year collective-bargaining agreement with the Ralston Education Association, a $162,370 construction contract for elementary work, and a memorandum of understanding with ESU 3 to place school mental-health practitioners in district buildings.
Board members voted on a series of motions during the retreat session, adopting routine consent items and taking discrete actions later in the meeting. The consent agenda included minutes from the Jan. 27 meeting and the January financial report; the board approved bills for $659,803.04 for the general fund and $1,037,281.59 for the special building fund.
In other votes the board: - Approved the sale of obsolete family and consumer science machines from Ralston High School; the board limited an initial two-week purchase window to current Ralston students before items are offered to the public. - Accepted a single responsive bid from KE Flex Contracting for $162,370 for phase 2 work at Karen Western, Bloomfield, Seymour and Wildwood elementaries. - Approved the 2025–27 negotiated agreement with the Ralston Education Association (REA), a two-year contract that includes salary schedule adjustments, benefit options and a mechanism to re-open salary/benefit negotiations if certain funding changes occur. - Adopted policy updates including a modified closed-campus policy (50.32) and a dating-violence policy (50.30) as recommended by the district's policy service. - Approved a memorandum of understanding with ESU 3 to introduce a school mental-health program placing full-time practitioners in five buildings.
All motions listed above passed as presented. Where recorded in the minutes, roll-call responses were read aloud at the meeting; the consent agenda recorded one abstention on the bills (the board member said she had a reimbursement listed) and the remaining votes on individual motions were recorded as aye by the board members present.
