Special Recreation recruitment effort underway; Gateway day program capped at 12 for staffing ratios

At the start of liaison reports, a staff liaison told the commission that Willowbrook stepped away from the Special Recreation Association in late 2024 and that the participating municipalities are launching a recruitment and marketing campaign to ask nearby municipalities without an SRA to join.
The liaison said the recruitment targets municipalities that currently do not participate in the Special Recreation Association rather than trying only to increase patron utilization within current members. The liaison added that he is leading the recruitment work and will report back as pamphlets and marketing materials are finalized.
On a separate SRA item, staff reported on capacity for Gateway’s new day program: the program is currently set at 12 participants because of staffing ratios. Staff said they will revisit staffing ratios if enrollment exceeds that number but that the program has not yet hit that cap.
