Amy, a staff member, reminded the board that the petition had been discussed at the Jan. 13 meeting alongside other National Grid feeder-project applications. She said abutter concerns had been routed to National Grid and that the company had followed up with the affected homeowners.
John Caswell of National Grid said he had met with Mrs. Mitchell and Mr. Thompson, two nearby property owners, to discuss construction access and timing. Caswell said his crew tentatively scheduled the work for April 14–20 and offered to plate trenches to allow property access during deliveries and to replace any removed fence in kind when work was complete.
Board members moved to close the public hearing. On a subsequent motion the board approved the petition with the condition that departmental comments be satisfied; the vote was unanimous (Don, Matt, Malcolm, Tom and the chair voted aye). Staff asked that National Grid coordinate final scheduling with the town and follow standard restoration and safety measures.
Next steps: National Grid will coordinate specifics with the town’s departments and abide by required departmental comments and restoration of fence and access as described by company representatives.
