Franklin Fire Chief Snyder told the Fire Merit Commission on Feb. 10 that the department will likely be one firefighter short when a lieutenant completes a medical pension and that the current eligibility list does not include enough candidates with the required certifications.
Snyder said the department requires applicants to hold Firefighter I and II, HAZMAT, EMT certifications and a CPAT qualification; many names on the existing lists lack those credentials. “So I can go on at any time and look at anybody that I know their PSID number… and we just don't have any,” Snyder said. He added that some applicants have not started the certification process at all.
