Alan McPeek spoke during public comment at the Feb. 10 work session about the Limekil and Simmons property, telling the board he believes lawsuits related to the property will continue and that the district’s prior administration erred in the original 2016 agreement of sale.
McPeek said he understands the district retained legal counsel and that taxpayers have paid nearly $200,000 in legal fees related to the dispute. He asserted that the current developer (identified in his remarks as “Danny j Corporation”) may be attempting to flip the property and that the district and community should pursue preservation rather than development. McPeek criticized the earlier sale process and said the community has a “once in a generation opportunity to preserve land.”
Board practice, he noted, is not to engage with speakers during community input. No board action followed this public comment during the work session.
