City reports 28 applicants for multiple commission vacancies; interviews scheduled Feb. 19–20

City Manager Pat Trejgan reported to the council that 28 applications were received to fill multiple commission vacancies across equity, finance, parks, planning and the Police Civil Service Commission.
Trejgan said the city had sought approximately twice the number of applicants as openings where possible. The breakdown provided to council showed, for example, three openings on the Equity Commission with eight first‑choice applicants and one second choice; four openings on the Parks Commission with 11 first‑choice applicants and three second choices; and one opening on the Police Civil Service Commission with two first‑choice applicants and two second‑choice applicants. Interviews were scheduled for two evenings (Wednesday and Thursday) the week after the meeting, and staff will send applications and an agenda to council ahead of the interviews.
Council members encouraged staff to accommodate applicants’ scheduling where feasible and thanked community relations staff for expanded outreach that included business and event engagement and LinkedIn postings. Staff indicated a short advertising window and enhanced one‑on‑one outreach likely contributed to higher application numbers.
