Council approves Lake Owasso water‑ski slalom association’s request to pursue Ramsey County permit

The Roseville City Council on Monday voted unanimously to authorize the Lake Owasso Safe Boating Association to pursue a permanent renewal of its water‑ski slalom course permit through Ramsey County.
The item, introduced by Chief Erica Scheier on behalf of the city, noted that Ramsey County issues and enforces permits for activities on Lake Owasso. Scheier said the association’s slalom course has been in the same location for more than 50 years and that the group provided a certificate of insurance. "They provided a certificate of insurance. I'm not aware of any problems that we've had," the presenter said. City staff recommended the council take public comment and approve the association’s request to move forward with Ramsey County.
Councilors asked no substantive questions about safety or enforcement and no members of the public asked to speak. Councilor Schroeder moved to approve the request; Councilor Restron seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Because the county holds permitting authority, the council’s action was limited to allowing the association to proceed with Ramsey County rather than issuing a city permit.
The council closed the item after voting and thanked the chief and association representatives for their participation.
