Commissioners approve routine budget and contract measures; table repository bid

The Lawrence County Commissioners on Feb. 11 voted on a series of routine fiscal and contractual items, approved a budget amendment and a jail contract with Venango County, and tabled action on a proposed repository bid pending additional documentation.

The board voted unanimously (3–0) to table consideration of a proposed repository bid after staff said the packet lacked required documentation from the municipality and school district. The motion to table was carried by roll call.

Commissioners then approved two warrant registers dated Feb. 4 and Feb. 7, the minutes of the Feb. 4 meeting (with a minor spelling correction noted), and five pieces of written correspondence entered into the record. Each of those procedural items passed on unanimous roll-call votes.

On substantive matters the board: - Approved Resolution 26, authorizing the county to advertise for bids to maintain county parks and five boat launches (advertisement dates specified by staff). The planning department representative said the work is put out to bid annually because the value exceeds the county’s professional-services threshold. The vote was unanimous. - Approved Resolution 27, a contract with Venango County to accept juvenile detainees into the county jail at a rate of $500 per day, should Venango need placement. County staff and the deputy warden said the agreement is proactive (no juveniles from Venango were in the county at the time) and is intended to ensure proper separation and placement procedures are available quickly. The motion passed unanimously. - Approved a $550 intra-departmental transfer at the Voter’s Office, moving $550 from contingency into the training line for election workers.
