- Lease agreement renewal for downtown police substation (Valley Road LLC): The Police Department requested renewal of a one‑year lease for the downtown substation (01/01/2025–12/31/2025). Staff said the lease cost was included in the police operating budget and utilities are covered; the substation provides office space, designated parking for patrol vehicles and a visible officer presence near the transit center. The committee voted to forward the lease agreement to the Feb. 18 consent agenda for approval.
- Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) master agreement amendments for Class 5 community restitution programs: City staff requested an annual amendment and proposed adjusting project dates currently listed as 12/01/2024–11/30/2025 to 02/01/2025–01/31/2026. The committee voted to forward the amendment to the Feb. 18 consent agenda with the revised dates.
- Senior Center funding request: As noted in a separate article, the committee moved the senior‑center $30,000 contingency funding request to the Feb. 18 business agenda for council decision.
Why it matters: Several of the forwarded items involve the police department and public‑safety equipment or facilities; the JAG award would provide federal grant funds for equipment and community outreach, while the downtown substation lease maintains a police presence near transit.
