Parks division staff reviewed upcoming programs, events and volunteer needs for spring and summer during the Feb. 11 meeting, highlighting senior-center presentations, new classes, the March–April open house for Spring House Park and summer camp registration dates.
Aaron, parks division staff, listed programs starting in March, including fitness and educational sessions at the senior center and new offerings such as Brain Olympics, inclusive yoga, family clay workshops and a Mommy-and-Me yoga class. He also noted a March senior-center opening-day celebration tied to Major League Baseball’s opening day and the annual Soaring to Spring family event scheduled for April 26 at Dominic Lafino Park.
Aaron said traditional summer day-camp registration opens March 17 and that the department will offer nine weeks of day camp this summer (one more week than recent years), plus specialty camps provided by community partners including Beavercreek Clay Courts Tennis Club, Extreme Quest Sports (Gym Quest), Skyhawk Sports Academy and Amazing Athletes. He encouraged residents to preview registration information online and to apply for seasonal maintenance, internship and camp-staff positions; staff said interviews are already underway.
On volunteer engagement and events, Erin, parks division staff, asked the board to help promote the open-house survey for Spring House Park when the date is set and to assist with outreach and staffing at public events, including the Beavercreek Schools family-fun day on May 4. The board also discussed scheduling a volunteer-recognition event; staff proposed April 23 as the preferred date pending final confirmation from two board members.
Ending: Staff invited board help with promotion and volunteer recruitment and said they will circulate the Spring House Park open-house date and the volunteer-recognition save-the-date by email once confirmed.
