Council approves consent agenda including demolitions, hiring and utility contracts

The Jacksonville City Council approved a multi-item consent agenda that included resolutions authorizing payments from the general fund, contracts for demolition, hiring actions for the fire department, and utility-related contract approvals and payment estimates.

Under the consent agenda, Finance/IT/Personnel reported a resolution authorizing payments from the general fund for services rendered. Planning and Public Works presented a resolution waiving advertising for bids and accepting proposals for demolition of 922 North Clay Avenue and 603 North Fayette Street. Public Protection brought two items: a motion requesting the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners hire one probationary hoseman for the Jacksonville Fire Department and a resolution approving hiring processes for the department. Utility items included waivers of advertisement and acceptance of proposals from Hydrokinetics Corporation and Gano Electrical Contracting for communications/alarm monitoring systems at two sewage lift stations, a partial payment estimate No. 18 to Plucker Construction Company for wastewater treatment plant Phase 1 headworks project, and a resolution authorizing payments from the Water Works and Sewage Project Fund.

Alderman Watts moved the consent agenda items; an apparent second was recorded. The clerk called the roll and all present aldermen voted yes. No items were pulled for separate discussion and there were no public comments recorded on the consent items during the meeting.
