Stormwater staff to staff a builders expo, finish streamside mailings and offer free trees in March

Stormwater staff told the board they will staff a builders expo on March 7–8, completed streamside mailings in three districts and will give away trees in March aimed at erosion and standing-water problem areas.
James Vaden presented the stormwater staff update to the Urban Type Facility Board on Feb. 6, outlining outreach events and educational mailing completed for permit compliance.
Vaden said the staff will “be having the builders expo, the seventh and eighth,” and that the office will “have a booth and give out some information on the requirements.” He reported the department finished streamside mailings for three districts and is moving on to the next district: “We're finishing up Districts 45, And 14 with the stream side mail out that we're doing for educational. That was anybody that had property that had a blue line stream on their property. We were sending out something to meet our educational goals for our permit.”
On a separate outreach activity, Vaden said staff will give away trees in March to help address erosion and standing-water problems: “We'll be giving them away March. So if anybody that you know would like free trees...we try to target problematic areas that people have with standing water or erosion, along the stream or something.”
A motion to approve the stormwater report passed by voice vote. No regulatory changes or permit modifications were adopted during the meeting; the presentation described ongoing education and outreach required to meet permit goals.
